About the opportunity
This is a contractor role through X-Team. As a mid-level Systems Administrator and Operational Support Engineer you will manage everyday version control operations and user lifecycle workflows for the client's developer tools release team. Serving as the primary bridge between developers, project managers and platform engineers, you will own the incoming ticket queue: access, repository configuration and user permissions across Perforce and GitHub Enterprise. While executing daily runbooks you will look for opportunities to streamline routine tasks, writing scripts and laying the groundwork for permanent automation Must haveDirect hands-on experience administering Perforce (Helix Core) and GitHub Enterprise, including user access, depots, groups, branches and permissions.Mid-level background managing user accounts, IAM and access controls, and developer onboarding in an enterprise environment.Ability to write clean, maintainable scripts in Python, Bash or Go to automate repetitive admin workflows and work with REST APIs (for example the GitHub REST API).Excellent written and verbal English with strong client-facing skills: comfortable working directly with stakeholders, setting expectations and documenting ticket updates.Nice to haveConfiguring and maintaining SSH and GPG key management across distributed developer environments.Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and release engineering workflows.Exposure to infrastructure monitoring tools and escalating system-wide anomalies.Writing or refactoring technical documentation and operational runbooks.Who does well hereNaturally spots repetitive, high-volume tasks and turns manual processes into automated code.Handles access requests and support tickets with patience and a customer-first mindset.Meticulous when following runbooks and managing access control lists and security permissionsTriages tickets independently and knows when to escalate to senior engineers.
